March Birdy Book Club

Join us for the next Grand Rapids Audubon Club's Birdy Book Club, hosted at Books & Mortar, a locally owned, independent book store. In March, we'll discuss "Flight Paths: How a Passionate and Quirky Group of Pioneering Scientists Solved the Mystery of Bird Migration" by Rebecca Heisman, who will be our speaker at the club's April 29 membership meeting!

About the book:
The captivating, little-known true story of a group of scientists and the methods and technology they developed to uncover the secrets of avian migration. For the past century, scientists and naturalists have been steadily unraveling the secrets of bird migration. How and why birds navigate the skies, traveling from continent to continent—flying thousands of miles across the earth each fall and spring—has continually fascinated the human imagination, but only recently have we been able to fully understand these amazing journeys.

About the club (within a club):
-Buy or borrow the book and complete the reading before the meeting. Get 10% off the price of the book if you purchase at Books & Mortar (mention it's for the GRAC Birdy Book Club!)
-There's no cost to participate (apart from any books you opt to purchase). And you don't need to be a club member, or a birder, to join us for the discussion! We love meeting new people
-Book club will meet 6 to 7:30 p.m. the second Monday of every other month, beginning in January 2024.
-Titles for the next book club are announced at the previous meeting (the May book will be announced in March, and so on)
-This is a space for mutually respectful, curious and sometimes challenging conversations. Happy reading!
