Kent County Christmas Bird Count

Date: Saturday, January 2, 2021
Time: 7:30 AM

Christmas Bird Count Details:
Our members’ and community’s health is of the utmost importance. Due to the continuing—and worsening—COVID-19 outbreak, this year’s count will NOT involve ANY in-person meeting or counting. All planning and counting will take place via phone or online via Zoom or email. Counting will be conducted via car and foot; please plan to bird either solo or ONLY with members of your immediate household. In accordance with local and federal health care officials’ guidance, the club asks that you only carpool with members of your household—not extended social groups. The spread of the pandemic is currently fueled by small, familiar groups and gatherings. Please follow all other Kent County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Please watch the GRAC website for up-to date information.

Feeders within the count circle add valuable data. Let us know before count day if you will be a feeder counter only. Some counters travel a section in the morning and then count at their feeders in the afternoon. In the event of a blizzard on count day, feeders can save a count, despite reduced numbers. Refer to the count map to see if your feeder is within the count circle, and report your numbers to a count coordinator.
